Namnyaki Girls Secondary School, is a special school established , owned and operating by Namnyaki Maasai Girls and women organization (NAMGWO) , the school is located in the Iringa region of southern Tanzania, the school was registered in the year 2016 and its registration no is, S. 4963 and examination center no is S. 5542. Namnyaki Maasai Girls Secondary School was founded in 2013 by an organization called Namnyaki Maasai Girls and women Organization with support from “The Image Project” and “Namnyaki project organization” with a Mission of supporting Maasai girls through education and economic opportunities. The school was built in the tiny village of Kilala- Kidewa in Image Area at the foot of Mt. Selebu, a beautiful location with clean water, a comfortable climate, and lush farm fields. It provides a safe and supportive boarding-school community for around (110-160 girls), most of them might otherwise be forced into early marriage and never have an opportunity to pursue education beyond primary school. When the original class of students graduated in October 2017, many of them went on to universities or trade school programs. Others returned to their home villages to raise families, where we hope they will pass on the value of education to their own children. Subsequent classes have also done well. Namnyaki Maasai Girls and Women organization and Namnyaki Secondary school is thriving in terms of providing a safe, welcoming, and educationally enriching environment for students as many as we can. Many of the girls at the school are vulnerable come from families that are unable to pay the cost of tuition, room, and board. In some cases, the girls have run away from forced (illegal) marriages to older men, so they have no financial support. Because the school is tuition dependent, it often struggles to pay its teachers, buy books and other materials, and plan for long term upkeep of the facilities.
